Threaded End Cap

The Threaded End Cap is an internally threaded pipe fitting used to close and seal the open end of a threaded pipe or mating fitting. It is widely used across utility and process piping systems to terminate pipe runs, blank off unused branch connections, and isolate sections of pipework during maintenance or system modifications. Its simple, robust design makes it an essential component in both permanent installations and temporary blanking applications.

These end caps are suitable for use in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, water supply and distribution networks, steam lines, compressed air systems, and general industrial process piping. The internally threaded design allows the cap to be screwed directly onto the male-threaded end of a pipe or fitting, creating a secure, leak-free seal without the need for additional components.

Threaded end caps are available in three primary material options to suit different service conditions and media compatibility requirements. Galvanised iron (GI) offers good corrosion resistance for general-purpose water and air applications. Carbon steel (CS) provides high strength and is suited to higher-pressure and elevated-temperature services. SS 316 stainless steel delivers superior corrosion resistance, making it the preferred choice for aggressive media, hygienic environments, and marine or coastal installations.

The fittings are manufactured to accommodate two widely adopted thread standards: BSP (British Standard Pipe) and NPT (National Pipe Taper). BSP threads are commonly specified in European, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets, while NPT threads are standard in North American applications. Both thread forms provide a tapered or parallel engagement that, when used with appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape, delivers a pressure-rated, leak-tight connection.

Two body styles are offered: hex and round. The hex body style features flat wrench faces that allow the cap to be tightened and removed using a standard spanner or pipe wrench, making it the preferred choice where regular access or removal is anticipated. The round body style presents a smooth, compact profile suited to installations where a lower-profile finish is preferred or space is limited.

Available in sizes from 1/8" to 4", threaded end caps are produced by either forging or casting. Forged construction yields a denser, higher-strength grain structure with improved mechanical properties, making forged caps suitable for higher-pressure and more demanding service conditions. Cast construction is well suited to larger sizes and more complex geometries, offering a cost-effective solution for standard-duty applications. All caps are manufactured to recognised dimensional and pressure standards to ensure interchangeability and reliable performance.
