Flat Webbing Sling – 2T WLL

A flat webbing sling is a flexible lifting device manufactured from high-tenacity polyester or nylon webbing, engineered to safely hoist, secure, and transport heavy loads across a wide range of industrial environments. In rigging and construction, flat webbing slings are used to lift structural steel, precast concrete panels, and heavy machinery, while in manufacturing and logistics they handle everything from bundled raw materials to finished goods on production lines and in warehouses. Their lightweight construction and flexibility make them easy to handle, rig, and store compared to wire rope or chain alternatives, reducing operator fatigue and speeding up lifting operations.

The defining advantage of a flat webbing sling is its wide, flat bearing surface, which distributes the applied load evenly across a broad contact area. This significantly reduces the risk of surface damage, indentation, or marking on delicate, polished, or finished loads — a critical benefit when handling painted steelwork, aluminium extrusions, glass, or sensitive equipment where round slings or chains could cause localised pressure damage. Flat webbing slings conforming to EN 1492-1 are colour-coded by working load limit (WLL) for rapid, unambiguous capacity identification on site: violet for 1 tonne, green for 2 tonnes, yellow for 3 tonnes, grey for 4 tonnes, red for 5 tonnes, brown for 6 tonnes, and blue for 8 tonnes. This standardised colour system allows riggers and site supervisors to verify the correct sling is selected at a glance, reducing the risk of overloading.

Proper care and storage are essential to maintaining the integrity and service life of flat webbing slings. Before each use, inspect the sling thoroughly for cuts, abrasions, tears, chemical burns, heat damage, or excessive wear on the eyes and body — any sling showing such defects must be immediately withdrawn from service and destroyed. During use, protect the sling from sharp edges and corners using edge protectors or padding, and never drag slings across abrasive surfaces. Keep slings away from acids, alkalis, solvents, and other chemicals that can degrade polyester or nylon fibres without visible external signs. Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation also weakens webbing over time, so slings should be stored in a cool, dry, dark location away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and damp conditions. Always store slings loosely coiled or hung on a rack — never knotted or compressed under heavy loads.
