Manual Chain Hoist – 1T WLL

A manual chain hoist is a mechanical lifting device that uses human effort to raise, lower, and position heavy loads. It operates through a hand chain that, when pulled, drives an internal gear mechanism — typically a combination of sprockets and reduction gears — which in turn moves the load chain and raises or lowers the attached hook. The gear reduction multiplies the operator's input force, allowing substantial loads to be lifted with relatively modest effort. A built-in load brake engages automatically to hold the load securely in position whenever the hand chain is released, ensuring safe and controlled operation throughout the lift.

Manual chain hoists are widely used across a broad range of industries and environments. In workshops and manufacturing facilities they are used to position machinery, tooling, and heavy components during assembly or maintenance. Warehouses rely on them for loading and unloading operations where overhead cranes are unavailable. On construction sites and in rigging applications they provide a compact, reliable means of lifting structural elements, equipment, and materials. Because they require no electrical power supply, compressed air, or hydraulic infrastructure, manual chain hoists are fully portable and can be deployed quickly in remote locations, confined spaces, or any setting where powered lifting equipment is impractical or unavailable.

Safe and reliable operation depends on regular inspection and proper maintenance. Before each use, the load chain, hooks, and latch mechanisms should be examined for signs of wear, deformation, corrosion, or cracking, and any damaged components must be replaced before the hoist is put into service. The brake should be tested to confirm it holds the rated load without slipping. Operators must never exceed the marked working load limit (WLL), and side-loading or shock-loading the hoist must be avoided. When not in use, the hoist should be stored in a clean, dry environment, protected from moisture and corrosive substances.
