Overview

ZERUST® ZerioGuard® 5 is a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor (SCI) powder engineered for use in hydrotesting applications involving ferrous metals. Designed for the demanding requirements of oil and gas, petrochemical, construction, and manufacturing industries across the Gulf and Middle East region, it provides dependable protection against flash corrosion during and after pressure testing operations.

How It Works

When dissolved in hydrotest water, ZerioGuard® 5 establishes an alkaline environment that acts as a pH buffer throughout the test medium. This alkaline condition neutralises acidic species present in the water — including dissolved carbon dioxide and other corrosive agents — that would otherwise accelerate flash corrosion on exposed ferrous surfaces. The inhibitor forms a protective chemical barrier at the metal interface, suppressing anodic and cathodic corrosion reactions and maintaining metal integrity for the duration of the hydrotest.

Dosage & Usage

ZerioGuard® 5 is effective at low concentrations, typically in the range of 0.1–1% by volume of the total hydrotest water volume, depending on water quality, system size, and test duration. The powder should be pre-dissolved in a small quantity of clean water before addition to the main hydrotest volume to ensure uniform distribution.
