Overview

Product Overview

5K/10K Marine Valves are purpose-built for the rigorous demands of shipbuilding, offshore platforms, and marine piping systems. Manufactured in bronze and cast iron, these valves are available in three functional types — gate, globe, and check — covering the full spectrum of isolation, throttling, and non-return flow control requirements. The series is designed to perform reliably in seawater service, marine cooling circuits, and offshore fluid handling, where corrosion resistance and pressure integrity are paramount.

JIS B2011 Standard Compliance

All valves in this series are manufactured in strict conformance with JIS B2011, the Japanese Industrial Standard governing bronze valves for marine and general service. This standard specifies dimensional requirements, pressure ratings, material grades, and testing protocols to ensure consistent quality and interchangeability. The 5K and 10K pressure classes correspond to maximum allowable working pressures of approximately 0.5 MPa and 1.0 MPa respectively, making them suitable for a wide range of low-to-medium pressure marine piping applications.

Material Options

Two body material options are available to suit different service conditions and budget requirements:

  • Bronze (CAC406 / BC6): Offers superior corrosion resistance in seawater and saline environments. Ideal for direct seawater service, bilge systems, and cooling water circuits where long-term resistance to dezincification and biofouling is required.
  • Cast Iron (FC200): A cost-effective option for less aggressive marine service conditions such as freshwater cooling loops and non-corrosive fluid handling. Suitable for larger bore sizes where bronze would be cost-prohibitive.

Valve Types and End Connections

The series encompasses three valve types, each serving a distinct function in marine piping systems:

  • Gate Valves: Full-bore isolation valves providing minimal flow restriction when fully open. Suited for on/off service in seawater intake and discharge lines.
  • Globe Valves: Designed for throttling and flow regulation, offering precise control in cooling water and auxiliary piping circuits.
  • Check Valves: Swing-type non-return valves that prevent backflow in pump discharge lines and other unidirectional flow applications.

End connections are available in both screwed (NPT/BSP) and flanged configurations, enabling straightforward integration into existing marine piping systems. The size range spans 1/2" to 8" nominal bore, covering the majority of shipboard and offshore piping requirements.

Applications and Corrosion Resistance

These valves are engineered for the most demanding marine and offshore environments, including seawater cooling and ballast systems, fire-fighting and deck wash lines, offshore platform process and utility piping, engine room cooling circuits, and bilge and drainage systems. The bronze variants are inherently resistant to seawater corrosion, galvanic attack, and marine biofouling, ensuring extended service intervals and reduced maintenance costs. All valves undergo hydrostatic shell and seat testing prior to dispatch, guaranteeing leak-free performance from installation.
