Air Valve

The automatic air release valve is an essential component in water pipeline systems, designed to continuously release trapped air pockets that accumulate during operation. Air entrapment in pipelines causes airlocks, reduces flow capacity, increases energy consumption, and can lead to water hammer events. By automatically venting air at high points in the system, this valve ensures uninterrupted flow and protects the integrity of the pipeline infrastructure.

The valve operates on a float-based mechanism. A buoyant float inside the valve body rises with the water level, sealing the orifice when the chamber is full of water. When air accumulates, the float drops, opening the orifice and allowing air to escape. Once the air is expelled and water re-enters the chamber, the float rises again to close the valve. This fully automatic cycle requires no external power or manual intervention, making it highly reliable for continuous operation.

Available in single-orifice and double-orifice configurations, the valve can be selected to match specific system requirements. Single-orifice models are suited for releasing small quantities of air during normal operation, while double-orifice (combination) models also handle large volumes of air during pipeline filling and draining. The body is manufactured in cast iron or stainless steel, offering a choice between cost-effective durability and enhanced corrosion resistance for aggressive media or hygienic applications.

The valve is available in a size range from DN15 (1/2") to DN150 (6"), accommodating a wide variety of pipeline diameters. Pressure ratings of PN10 and PN16 cover the majority of municipal and industrial water distribution applications. Connection options include threaded ends for smaller sizes and flanged ends for larger installations, ensuring compatibility with standard pipeline fittings and flanges.

This air release valve is widely used across potable water distribution networks, wastewater collection and treatment systems, and agricultural irrigation networks. Its robust construction, automatic operation, and broad compatibility make it a dependable solution for improving hydraulic efficiency and extending the service life of pipeline systems in both urban infrastructure and rural water supply projects.
