Overview

The CPVC reducing bushing is a precision-engineered thermoplastic fitting designed to connect pipes of different diameters within chemical piping systems. Acting as a concentric reducer, it allows a larger-diameter pipe or fitting to accept a smaller-diameter pipe, making it an essential component wherever pipe size transitions are required. Its compact, single-piece construction simplifies installation and minimises potential leak points in demanding industrial environments.

Manufactured from Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC), this bushing offers outstanding resistance to a broad spectrum of acids, bases, salts, and aliphatic hydrocarbons. CPVC retains its mechanical integrity and dimensional stability at elevated service temperatures, with a continuous operating rating of up to 200 °F (93 °C) — significantly higher than standard PVC fittings. The material is inherently non-conductive and does not corrode, scale, or pit, ensuring long service life with minimal maintenance.

The bushing features a male threaded or spigot end on the outside and a female socket end on the inside, providing a male × female socket configuration that integrates seamlessly into standard CPVC piping layouts. Joining is accomplished using CPVC-compatible solvent cement, which chemically fuses the fitting and pipe into a single, homogeneous, leak-free joint. No special tools or heat are required, making installation straightforward for both new construction and retrofit projects.

CPVC reducing bushings are available across a wide range of reduction sizes to accommodate the most common pipe diameter transitions found in industrial and commercial piping systems. All fittings conform to ASTM F439, the standard specification for socket-type CPVC plastic pipe fittings, ensuring dimensional accuracy, pressure ratings, and material quality meet recognised industry benchmarks.

Typical applications include industrial chemical processing and distribution lines, aggressive-fluid handling in manufacturing plants, municipal and commercial water treatment facilities, semiconductor and pharmaceutical process piping, and general plumbing systems where corrosion resistance and temperature performance are critical. The CPVC reducing bushing is a reliable, cost-effective solution wherever thermoplastic chemical piping demands a dependable diameter transition.
