Overview

CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) pipe is a thermoplastic pressure pipe engineered for demanding hot and cold water distribution systems as well as industrial chemical handling applications. Manufactured from a CPVC compound conforming to ASTM D1784, it delivers superior performance over standard PVC pipe by withstanding significantly higher service temperatures without compromising structural integrity or flow capacity.

One of the defining characteristics of CPVC pipe is its exceptional temperature resistance, rated for continuous service up to 93°C (200°F). This makes it the preferred choice for domestic hot water supply lines, industrial process piping, and fire suppression systems where elevated temperatures are a routine operating condition. Its smooth interior bore also minimises friction losses and resists scale build-up, maintaining consistent flow rates over the service life of the installation.

CPVC pipe exhibits outstanding resistance to a broad spectrum of acids, bases, salts, and aliphatic hydrocarbons, making it a reliable solution for chemical processing and handling environments. It is inherently non-corrosive and does not support microbial growth, which is particularly advantageous in potable water and pharmaceutical applications. These properties reduce maintenance requirements and extend the operational lifespan of piping systems compared to metallic alternatives.

The pipe is available in two pressure schedules — Schedule 40 (SCH 40) and Schedule 80 (SCH 80) — to suit a wide range of pressure and mechanical strength requirements. SCH 40 is commonly used in standard residential and light commercial installations, while SCH 80, with its thicker wall, is specified for higher-pressure industrial applications or where additional mechanical protection is needed. Both schedules are produced in a comprehensive size range from 1/4" to 12", ensuring compatibility with virtually any system design.

Compliant with ASTM F441, this CPVC pipe is available in cream and grey colour options to facilitate easy identification and system organisation on site. Its lightweight nature simplifies handling, cutting, and installation, reducing labour time and overall project costs. Whether used in residential plumbing, commercial HVAC systems, or aggressive industrial chemical environments, CPVC pipe provides a proven, cost-effective, and long-lasting piping solution.
