Overview

The CPVC Wafer Butterfly Valve is a high-performance flow control solution engineered for demanding chemical and industrial environments. Its compact wafer-style body installs directly between standard pipeline flanges, minimising installation space while delivering reliable shut-off and throttling performance across a wide range of corrosive media.

Materials and Construction

The valve body and disc are manufactured from Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC), a thermoplastic material renowned for its outstanding resistance to a broad spectrum of acids, alkalis, and oxidising chemicals. CPVC maintains structural integrity at elevated temperatures where standard PVC would soften, making it suitable for process lines operating up to approximately 93 °C (200 °F).

The wafer-style face-to-face dimension conforms to ANSI B16.10 and DIN 3202 standards, allowing the valve to be sandwiched between ANSI Class 150 or DIN PN10/PN16 flanges without additional adapters. Seat options include EPDM for general chemical and water service, and PTFE for aggressive chemical applications requiring superior chemical inertness and a wider temperature range.

Actuation Options

The valve is available with two actuation configurations to suit different operational requirements:

  • Lever actuator: A locking handle provides quick quarter-turn manual operation, ideal for applications requiring frequent adjustment or where simplicity is paramount.
  • Gear actuator: A worm-gear handwheel offers precise throttling control and reduced operating torque, recommended for larger valve sizes (DN150 and above) or where fine flow regulation is needed.

Both actuator types feature a corrosion-resistant finish compatible with the chemical environments in which CPVC valves are typically deployed.

Applications

Available in sizes DN50 through DN300 (2" to 12"), the CPVC Wafer Butterfly Valve is well suited to a broad range of industrial applications:

  • Chemical processing — handling acids, caustics, and solvents in production and transfer lines
  • Water treatment — chlorinated water, dosing systems, and effluent management
  • Industrial fluid handling — plating, semiconductor fabrication, and pulp and paper processes

Its lightweight thermoplastic construction reduces pipeline stress and simplifies maintenance, while the bubble-tight shut-off capability ensures process integrity across the full operating pressure range.
