Overview

What Is a Manifold Block?

A manifold block is a precision-machined fluid or pneumatic distribution component that consolidates multiple circuit connections into a single, compact body. By accepting one supply port and routing flow to two or more outlet ports, it eliminates the need for complex pipe networks, reducing leak points and simplifying system layout. Manifold blocks are widely used in industrial pneumatics, hydraulic power units, process automation, and machine tool systems.

Industrial Applications

Manifold blocks serve a broad range of industries and applications. In pneumatic systems, they distribute compressed air to actuators, cylinders, and control valves from a single compressor line. In hydraulic circuits, they manage high-pressure fluid routing to multiple actuators or control elements. Automation and robotics applications rely on manifold blocks to achieve compact, modular valve islands. They are equally at home in food and beverage processing, semiconductor fabrication, and oil and gas installations.

Material Options

Two primary material grades are available to suit different operating environments:

  • Aluminum Alloy (6061-T6): Lightweight and cost-effective, ideal for pneumatic systems and moderate-pressure hydraulic circuits. Anodized finish provides corrosion resistance.
  • Stainless Steel 316: Superior corrosion resistance for aggressive media, washdown environments, and high-pressure hydraulic applications. Electropolished finish minimizes contamination risk.

Port Configurations and Thread Standards

Manifold blocks are available in outlet configurations ranging from 2 to 16 ports, allowing system designers to select the exact number of circuits required without over-engineering the installation. Port threads conform to ISO 228 (BSP/G) standards, with sizes from G1/8" for small-bore pneumatic lines up to G1/2" for higher-flow hydraulic circuits. Custom port patterns, including NPT and metric threads, can be specified on request.

Optional Integrated Check Valves

Select configurations include factory-integrated check valves at each outlet port. These prevent back-flow between circuits, maintaining pressure integrity in individual branches even when other circuits are depressurised. Integrated check valves reduce external component count and simplify commissioning.

Surface Finish Options

Surface treatment is selected based on the operating environment and media compatibility:

  • Hard Anodized (Aluminum): Provides a hard, wear-resistant oxide layer that enhances corrosion protection and extends service life in industrial environments.
  • Electropolished (SS 316): Removes surface micro-roughness, reducing bacterial adhesion and particulate entrapment — essential for hygienic and high-purity applications.

Mounting and Installation

The rectangular block profile features pre-drilled mounting holes on the base face for direct panel or sub-plate mounting using standard M5 or M6 fasteners. Outlet ports are arranged on one or more lateral faces, keeping plumbing neat and accessible. The supply port is typically located on the end face or top face depending on the configuration. All ports are clearly marked with size and position identifiers. Installation requires only standard thread sealant or PTFE tape — no special tooling.

Precision Machining and Quality

Every manifold block is CNC-machined to tight dimensional tolerances, ensuring consistent port alignment and leak-free sealing across all connections. Internal flow passages are drilled and deburred to eliminate sharp edges that could cause turbulence or particulate generation. Each unit undergoes pressure testing prior to dispatch, verifying integrity at 1.5× the rated maximum operating pressure. Dimensional inspection reports are available on request.
