Overview

Product Overview

Needle valves are precision shut-off and throttling valves designed to provide accurate, repeatable flow control in demanding industrial environments. Their tapered needle-point plunger seats against a matching orifice, enabling fine adjustment of flow rates even at high operating pressures. These valves are widely used wherever tight isolation and metered flow are critical requirements.

Construction & Materials

The valve body is machined from SS 316 stainless steel, offering excellent resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and a broad range of process media including hydrocarbons, acids, and saline environments. The rising stem design provides a clear visual indication of valve position — open or closed — at a glance.

Stem sealing is achieved with Grafoil (flexible graphite) packing, which delivers superior temperature resistance, low fugitive emissions, and long service life compared to conventional PTFE packing. This makes the valve suitable for elevated-temperature applications and environments with strict emissions compliance requirements.

Connection Types

These needle valves are available with two end-connection options to suit different installation requirements:

  • NPT (National Pipe Thread) — threaded connections for direct integration into pipe systems and manifolds.
  • Compression tube ends — for leak-tight connections to instrument tubing without welding or special tooling.

Pressure Rating & Size Range

Rated for working pressures up to 420 bar (6,090 psi), these valves are engineered to handle the most demanding high-pressure service conditions. The available size range of 1/4" to 1/2" covers the majority of instrument and small-bore process line applications.

Typical Applications

Needle valves of this specification are used across a wide range of industries and applications:

  • Process instrumentation — isolation and calibration of pressure gauges, transmitters, and flow meters.
  • Oil & gas — wellhead instrumentation, chemical injection, and high-pressure sampling systems.
  • Hydraulic systems — precise flow throttling and pressure control in hydraulic test rigs and power units.
