Solenoid Ball Valve

The Solenoid Ball Valve is a compact, electrically actuated quarter-turn valve designed for reliable remote on/off control of liquids and gases. Combining a full-bore brass or stainless steel 316 ball valve body with a robust solenoid or motor actuator, it delivers fast, repeatable switching with minimal pressure drop. It is equally suited to light commercial building services and demanding industrial process environments.

How Actuation Works

In solenoid-actuated models, energising the coil generates a magnetic field that drives a plunger, rotating the ball 90° to open or close the flow path. Motor-actuated variants use a small gear-motor to turn the ball, offering lower power consumption during the hold state and the ability to drive larger valve sizes. Both configurations are available in normally-closed (NC) and normally-open (NO) fail-safe modes, ensuring a defined safe state on power loss.

• Food and beverage — hygienic media isolation where stainless steel wetted parts are required

Installation Notes

The valve may be installed in any orientation; however, horizontal pipe mounting with the actuator pointing upward is recommended to prevent condensate ingress into the actuator housing. Ensure upstream and downstream isolation is available for maintenance. Use PTFE thread tape or appropriate pipe sealant on NPT or BSP threaded connections. Verify supply voltage matches the actuator nameplate before energising. A manual override lever is provided for commissioning and emergency operation.

Minimum straight pipe runs of five pipe diameters upstream and two diameters downstream are recommended to maintain flow accuracy. Do not exceed the rated differential pressure or temperature limits stated on the product label.
