Product Overview

The Vertical Pressure Vessel is a purpose-built storage vessel designed for compressed air storage, buffer tank duty, and a broad range of industrial process applications. Its vertical orientation and leg-mounted base make it ideal for installations where floor space is at a premium, while its robust construction ensures long service life in demanding environments.

Construction

The vessel shell is fabricated from high-quality carbon steel, providing excellent strength-to-weight characteristics and resistance to the pressures encountered in industrial service. Both the top and bottom ends feature domed (ellipsoidal or hemispherical) heads, which distribute internal pressure evenly and maximise structural integrity. All welds are performed to certified standards and subject to non-destructive examination as required by the applicable code.

Certifications

Every vessel is dual-certified to the two most widely recognised pressure vessel standards:

  • ASME Section VIII — the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Division 1, governing design, fabrication, inspection, and testing.
  • PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) — the European Union directive ensuring pressure equipment meets essential safety requirements for the EU market.

Dual certification simplifies procurement for projects requiring compliance with both North American and European regulatory frameworks.

Capacity and Pressure Ratings

The vessel range covers capacities from 100 litres up to 10,000 litres, accommodating everything from small workshop compressor installations to large industrial buffer systems. Maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) is available from 10 bar to 25 bar, enabling selection of the correct vessel for the specific system pressure requirements.

Mounting and Orientation

The vessel is supplied in a vertical orientation and is supported by a set of fabricated steel legs welded to the lower shell. The leg-mounted design elevates the vessel off the floor, facilitating condensate drainage and simplifying pipework connections at the base. Anchor bolt holes are provided in the leg feet for secure floor fixing.

Connections

Standard nozzle connections are provided to suit typical compressed air and process installations:

  • Inlet — for compressed air or process gas entry.
  • Outlet — for downstream distribution of stored media.
  • Safety valve — a dedicated nozzle for the pressure relief safety valve, mandatory under both ASME and PED.
  • Drain — located at the lowest point of the vessel for condensate removal and periodic draining.
