Overview

Product Overview

The Wafer Check Valve is a dual-plate, spring-loaded non-return valve designed to prevent backflow in pressurised pipeline systems. Its compact wafer-body profile fits between standard flanges without requiring additional pipe supports, making it an efficient and space-saving solution for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.

Key Applications

Wafer check valves are widely used across industries where reliable backflow prevention is critical:

  • Pipeline distribution systems for water, gas, and process fluids
  • HVAC heating and cooling circuits
  • Water treatment and pumping stations
  • Industrial process plants handling chemicals and slurries

Operating Principle

The valve operates on a spring-assisted dual-plate mechanism. Under forward flow, fluid pressure overcomes the spring force and pushes both plates open, allowing unrestricted flow through the valve bore. When flow ceases or reverses, the calibrated springs snap the plates shut before reverse flow can develop, providing fast and reliable closure with minimal water hammer.

Materials of Construction

The valve body is available in SS 316 stainless steel for corrosive or hygienic service, and carbon steel for general industrial applications. Sealing elements are offered in EPDM (suitable for water, steam, and many chemicals) or NBR (suitable for oils, fuels, and hydrocarbons), ensuring compatibility across a broad spectrum of media.

Size Range and Pressure Ratings

Available in nominal diameters from DN40 to DN600, the valve accommodates a wide range of pipeline sizes. Pressure ratings span PN16 to PN40, covering the majority of industrial and commercial pipeline operating conditions.

Installation Advantages

The wafer-style body is engineered to fit directly between standard PN or ANSI flanges, eliminating the need for special end connections or additional pipe supports. Its minimal face-to-face dimension significantly reduces the space required compared to swing or globe check valves, and its low-resistance flow path delivers a notably low pressure drop — reducing energy consumption in pumped systems.
